1-3 Happy New Year . . . . . After being hit with a cold/illness the day after Christmas, yesterday was the first day since that I ventured out of the house; I am finally feeling more like myself. Today Amber, Winston, and Dolly finally got their long overdue baths and grooming. They were all getting very shaggy and look like different pups after their spa treatment. Speaking of pups, I am cautiously optimistic that Amber may be pregnant. Her appetite has not been normal for a while now (but neither has the others'), and her weight is dropping some. This morning though . . . . . Amber actually threw up a couple of times, so maybe, just maybe that's the first real sign. Her nipples and vulva also have not shrunk back to normal. I had thought maybe we were at at least 4 weeks along, but checking the calendar I see we are just at three weeks; maybe more like 3 1/2 since it is 3 weeks today since the LAST AI was done. Anyway, I am hopeful at this point. Two of Dolly's puppies have new homes to go to pending deposits arriving by mail. Quincy and Daisy were adopted and I am actively speaking with another person or two about Luna. Hopefully they will all have homes to go to before new pups arrive. The pups will go in for their first set of puppy vaccines on Monday and all are doing well. Dolly is starting to show signs that she is about done nursing them and I will officially cut them off probably this coming week when they will turn 8 weeks old. They seem to be eating kibble well and all are gaining weight each week nicely.
Karsen will be turning 1 year old next week as well on the 8th. Hard to believe it has been a year since Emily gave birth to him. He is so freaking adorable and still SUCH a good baby.
1-13 YES! Quincy, Luna, and Daisy (now Lettie) have officially been adopted! Abby is staying with us as a possible show prospect for me. Her size is looking good as are her color and markings. BUT, I am a bit concerned at the fact that a bit of her nose has not yet turned black. My research tells me it could take weeks to months but I have never had this happen before so it's making me a bit nervous. Of course my pick of the litter, seemingly perfect in every other way is having this issue; UGH. However, my one consolation is that yes indeed, Amber is definitely pregnant so if she happens to have a pretty little girl (or two or three), in her litter, I might have other choices. I was finally convinced of her pregnancy last week when I discovered that she would eat the puppy kibble I had for Dolly's pups, and with a few good meals her belly started to fill out. Her pups should be due right around/before Valentines Day. Karsen turned 1 year old on January 8th. His day was spent with mom and dad but his official birthday party is this coming weekend. I've said it before but gosh he is such a good baby and it has been so enjoyable having him around often. After being let go from Spaghetti Works, Emily has been doing Insta-cart work while looking for another job. Yesterday she had an interview at a daycare that her cousin Tierney works for and was hired on the spot! She will start just as soon as her background check, etc. gets done. Decent pay, nice normal day schedule, with reduced daycare for Karsen when she decides to take him there. I hope this job is "the one" for her. Last night I hosted dinner and gender reveal for John & Crisler's baby. Last week they brought over "the envelope" and asked if I could/would make a gender reveal cake for them. How special that I was entrusted to know the baby's sex before anyone else and I had fun coming up with a gender reveal cake for them. They expected nothing more than blue frosting in the middle of he cake and were excited and happy to find an explosion of blue sprinkles inside the middle of the cake! Yes BLUE, they are having a baby BOY!
